The 2018 Free To Be Me Empowerment Symposium will take place in the New Fellowship Hall on August 4th at 9:00 am. There will be speakers, vendors, and more. There are several sponsorshIp opportunities, advertising opportunities, and vendor spaces available. Reserve you space now. Event packets are available in the vestibule and in the church office.

2018 Voting Information: For the 2018 primary election, early voting has begun and will continue through May5th at the Board of Elections or any of the 5 one-stop sites in Cumberland County. Visit: http://www.ncsbe.gov/ for more information.

May 5–The Annual Fayetteville District Walk-A-Thon will be held at Westover Recreation Center, beginning at 8:00am. For more information, POC is Sis. Lillie White, Second Mile Co-ordinator. Immediately following the walk, there will be a District Lay Council meeting at 9:30 and a Youth Directors Retreat at 10:00 am both at Simon Temple.

May 5–The Simon Temple Acolyte Ministry will have an Interest meeting on Saturday, May 5th, 2018, at 9 am in the New Sanctuary. This meeting is for youth and children of Simon Temple, (male and female ) ages 9 to 16. If you have any questions please contact Rev Adriane Newton. May 7–The Fayetteville/Cumberland County Ministerial Council has announced ten (10) scholarships for Cumberland County High School seniors. The scholarship application form can be found at the following website: http://www.fayettevillemincouncil.org./ Select “Scholarship” from the menu on the left side of the webpage. Deadline: Monday, May 7, 2018 These scholarship opportunities are supported by our annual MLK Breakfast.

May 7, 14 & 21—New Members Classes will resume next month in the New Fellowship Hall at 6:00 pm. Part 1 will be on May 7th, Part 2 on May 14th, and Part 3 on May 21st. Please visit: simontemple.securegive.com to sign up.

May 12—The WOMEN OF EXCELLENCE MINISTRY presents the “Lace and Pearls” Mothers & Girls Brunch on Saturday, May 12th at 10 am, hosted by First Lady, Rev. Felica R. Thompson and First Daughter Sis. Alexis A. Thompson. Come and receive “Pearls of Wisdom” from longtime member, Sis. Sarah Wilson. Tickets will be available in the church office or in the bookstore for $10 until Wednesday, May 10th. No tickets will be sold at the door.

May 19—The Fayetteville District Men of Zion Men’s Conference will be at New Bethel AME Zion Church 6967 Amarillo Drive, Fayetteville, NC at 9 am followed by a bake-off from 1:00 pm – 2:30 pm. All men are invited to attend the conference and all women are invited to participate in the bake-off. Join us for this awesome event.

May 19—First Lady Thompson will be preaching at the 7th Annual Women of Excellence Conference at Greater Chrysolite AME Zion Church, 1307 Meadow Road, Lumberton, NC on Saturday, May 19th at 9:00 am. Registration for this event is $25 and all ladies are asked to wear red & white. You can sign up and pay registration in the church office or at simontemple.securegive.com, if you plan to attend. The deadline to register is May 1st. Transportation to this event will be provided by Simon Temple.
