He completed his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communication in 1991 and is a proud member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.

After graduation, he was employed as a Pharmaceutical Representative with Bristol Myers in Pittsburgh, PA, and later as a Senior Account Executive with Alltel Communications in Cary, NC.

God afforded Pastor Thompson the opportunity to go back to school and he received his Masters in Divinity from United Theological Seminary in 2016.

Ministry History and Leadership

He accepted his call to the ministry on August 10, 1993. He received his first charge in June 1994 and was ordained an Elder in 1996. In November of 2001, he was appointed to Simon Temple African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church, where he currently serves as full-time pastor.

God has blessed Simon Temple to become one of the fastest growing churches in Zion. Thousands of souls have been led to the Lord and more than 3,000 have joined the church under his leadership. In January 2005, Simon Temple dedicated its newly renovated sanctuary and completed construction on the new 1,500 seat sanctuary in 2014.

He serves as the Presiding Elder of the St. Croix District of the U.S. Virgin Islands Annual Conference and Co-Director of Young Adults in Christian Ministry in the African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church.

Pastor Thompson was named Minister of the Year in 2009 by the Cumberland County Human Relations Commission of Fayetteville, North Carolina.

Pastor Thompson is very committed to his calling and to the ministry that God has allowed him to do.

His motto in the ministry is Romans 12:1, “Present your body as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.”

He challenges everyone with the words of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., “If a man has not found something to die for, he is not fit to live.”

"Today you woke up with some of the same bills, problems, issues and haters so what's the use? Before you give up remember God woke you up!"
